Custom Orders FAQ
Common questions about ordering custom cakes, cookie platters & event catering from Lay's Kitchen in Pittsburgh
How far in advance should I place a custom order?
Custom orders need at least 3–5 days' notice for smaller orders, and 1–2 weeks for larger events like weddings and corporate gatherings. Fill out the custom request form with your event date and headcount and we'll confirm what's possible.
Where do I pick up my custom order?
Custom orders are pickup only, at our Aspinwall kitchen (313 Freeport Rd, Aspinwall PA 15215), between 9am and 5:30pm. Pick your preferred time on the request form and we'll confirm it when we reply. (For same-day delivery of our regular menu items, order through DoorDash.)
What kinds of events do you bake for?
Weddings, baby and bridal showers, birthdays, corporate meetings, holiday parties, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha gatherings, Ramadan iftars, Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter, and more. Anything you'd serve baked goods at — we can do it.
Do you offer wholesale or recurring corporate orders?
Yes — we work with local cafes and offices on recurring wholesale orders. Choose 'Wholesale / Café' on the request form, or email us at layskitchenhq@gmail.com with your weekly or monthly needs.
Can I customize a flavor that isn't on the menu?
Often, yes. We can adjust fillings, frostings, decorations, and flavor combinations for most of our baked goods. Describe what you'd like in the 'Request a custom item' section of the request form.
How do I pay for a custom order?
Custom orders are paid by Venmo or Zelle once confirmed — there's no payment when you submit the request. For larger orders we'll send a written confirmation with total cost before the order is locked in.
